Need your help CI Moms and Dads
Well we have gone through all the hearing testing and the Cochlear Implant evaluation for baby K and all have decided that he is an excellent candidate for cochlear implants. Now we head into the insurance department UGH! As of right now my husband's company insurance does not cover the cost of getting CI's. His company is self insured so it is ultimately up to the company if they will cover them and that is why I need your help CI moms and dads. We need to give them a reason to cover Kemper's CI's and hopefully add it to their plan in the following year. I need help gathering information like what they are, how they work, any statistics, benefits of cochlear implants, and putting it together so that it is informative and straight to the point. If anyone has any appeal letters they could share with us so that we may have a format to plea our case they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Congratulations that K is a great candidate for CIs!! I hope the next part goes well for you, despite the fact that insurance is always a pain. :)
Hi! My name is Renae and my son is Briggs. He was born in May 2008and is also deaf due to the Connexin 26 mutation. We have a 4 year old daughter Elli who is hearing. I read through your previous posts and oh how it brings back all those memories. It seems hard to believe now but this is truly an amazing journey! Anyway, our son was bilaterally implanted at 10 months old with Advanced Bionics CI's. I wanted to introduce myself and give you my blog site. http://zimmermanfam-renae.blogspot.com/ I'd love to be of any help if possible! I also have been talking frequently with a new mom who also had a baby boy this past April and he is profound due to Cx26. She is a GREAT woman and I could give you have her contact info if you'd like to talk to someone who is exactly where you are in this journey. Best of luck!! I'll add your blog link to my blog.
There are LOTS of web resources out there. I have a list on the sidebar of my blog that can get you started. The three implant companies also have excellent stats and information on their sites as well. Good luck!
Sorry, I cannot really help, but there are a lot of great resources out there. Have you checked out the resources on cicircle.org?
I have to say, your new blog picture is cute, cute, cute!
Best of luck with insurance coverage!
Have you contacted the Let Them Hear Foundation? I believe they will help write a letter to assist you in advocating for CIs. They also have a lot of information on their site - www.letthemhear.org
Also, your doctor should be able to write a letter to the company too.
The other thing I'd do is post any questions you have on the Yahoo group CiCircle. There are many "professional" CI mommies and daddies on there who really know their stuff! They'll get you going in the right direction!
Good luck! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't a battle for you all.
Hi! I just came across your blog from Kelly's Korner! What a precious little one you have.
